Abdulrashid Sadulaev did not allow Georgia's Miriani Maisuradze to score a single point in the final of the 92kg freestyle wrestling world championships in Albania, defeating him 6-0.
It is the sixth world gold medal for the two-time Olympic and four-time European champion. It is only the second time in the history of freestyle wrestling that an athlete wins in three different weight categories (-86, -92, -97kg) at the World Championships. The first was Soviet wrestler Anatoly Beloglazov more than 40 years ago.
In another decisive match at the championships in Albania, Khasavyurt native Magomed Magomayev (-79kg) lost to Georgian wrestler Avtandil Kentchadze (4:13). In the small final, Zavur Uguyev (3-8) was defeated by Vitaly Orudzhev (USA) - despite the injury he suffered the day before, he fought for a place on the podium. Abdulmazhid Kudiev, representing Tajik national team, won the bronze medal against Akaki Kemertelidze of Georgia (13-2).
Four non-Olympic weight categories were contested. Two medals (gold and silver) were won by wrestlers from the Georgian national team. Russian freestyle wrestlers won another medal, but they competed in neutral status. The national teams of Japan and Iran were also among the top three medalists.
