The Famsun Group, a Chinese holding company, intends to complete the construction of a 1.5 million-tonne-per-year grain terminal in Makhachkala International Container Terminal by 2028. The terminal will have a capacity for one-time storage of up to 100,000 tons, making it a significant infrastructure project.

Design work on the grain terminal has already commenced. A cooperation agreement was signed in Yangzhou, China, with the involvement of Port Director Jamal Aliyev, further solidifying the partnership.

At present, the capacity for grain handling at Makhachkala port stands at 500,000 tons annually. Famsun Group specializes in the development and provision of integrated solutions for equipment in the fields of milling, grain processing, and storage, as well as oilseed processing, having developed over 700 models of machines. The company's headquarters are located in Yangzhou, China.
