The sea level lowering hamper the work of Makhachkala port. To somehow solve the problem, the regional authorities and the port management are currently looking for options to quickly alleviate the problem.

As to Rustam Kerimov, the acting director general of Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port JSC, the situation is critical at present. As an option, Kerimov believes, the local authorities need support of the federal Rosmorport to start dredging works.

Another way out is to find reserves and technical resources from the Caspian Flotilla. At present, the seabed of the oil harbor of Makhachkala seaport is particularly silted up.
