Drainage systems built on Makhachkala airport runway under reconstruction

Makhachkala, October 10, 2014. They started to build drainage systems on the Makhachkala airport runway which is under reconstruction at the moment, Magomed Haibulaev, who is in charge of the airport’s construction and reconstruction, told RIA "Dagestan". They are paving the forth out of 5 layers of asphalt on the roadbed.

They use asphalt produced by a Makhachkala plant in building the drainage systems and the new runway. Daghestani asphalt plants are speeding in road pavement production. They have achieved 3,500 tons per day with plans to increase the figure up to 5,000 tons. They’ve been working in two shifts around the clock since early October.

The reconstruction implies expanding the runway from 42 to 45 meters, updating pipelines and networks, dismantling and building a section of a patrol highway, establishing a new checkpoint, building sewage treatment plants, transformer substations, lighting facilities, reconstructing the apron and the perimeter fence.
