Makhachkala, December 28, 2016. The introduction of energy-saving technologies, the transition to the modern LED lighting in city streets can save approx. 120 billion rubles, the experts of the Russia’s Ministry of Energy have calculated. The All-Russian People’s Front carried out an analysis of complaints from citizens living in different cities on the poor illumination of municipal streets.

According to PF experts’ estimates, the use of obsolete equipment (more than 60% of the total number of street lamps) leads to poor street illumination and as a consequence, decreases public safety affecting the growth of street crimes and car accidents in the dark.

The problems associated with the poor street illumination, were found in Kaliningrad, Ryazan, Kemerovo, Kostroma, Penza regions, the Republic of Dagestan and other regions.
At the same time, in some cities, on the contrary, the experts register an excessive profligacy in street illumination: the lamps are lit, even during the day and the night illumination standards are exceeded, -  unnecessarily increasing the cost of electricity costs
