The volume of trout farming in Dagestan has exceeded the annual figures of 2023 since the beginning of this year. Industrial trout farming, or trout farming in pools and cages, has been actively developing in the region. According to Khadijat Shamkhalova, the head of the regional Fisheries Committee, 15 new trout farms have opened in the republic since last year, bringing the total number of farms to 15.

The volume of production in these farms in 2023 made 412.5 tons. Of this, 150 tons were sold. In the first quarter of 2024, more than 300 tons of trout were produced. By the end of the year, the Committee expects a twofold increase in production.
