Dagestan is primarily known for its cultivation of technical grapes, accounting for 71% of the total production. However, table grapes, despite being more expensive and highly sought after, are still in demand. The lack of storage facilities in the region is a significant obstacle to the development of the viticulture sector.

Dagestan Viticulture Committee has identified the need to invest in additional storage facilities for fruits and grapes. Two projects have been proposed: one in Derbent municipal district, involving MUE 'Agrofirma Tatlyar', with a capacity of 1,000 tons, and another in Kayakent municipal district, under the Agricultural consumer co-operative 'Krasnopartizansky', with a capacity of 2,000 tons. These initiatives aim to ensure the safe storage of fresh grapes throughout the off-peak season within the republic.
