Makhachkala, April 21, 2014. Makhachkala House of Friendship hosted an exhibition "Mecca in silver: the symbolism of the Hajj in silver stamps of Moscow mint".
The exhibition initiator is the WT Company Director Vladimir Prusakov.
“This precious collection of 40 replica stamps coined by Russian Finance Ministry’s Moscow Mint is made from 999-standard silver and dedicated to the Holy City of Mecca. These silver replicas duplicate the famous original stamps and have already become the artifacts of the great historic significance.
The stamps issued in different epochs in 24 Islamic countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Comoros, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen had served as a source for silver pieces.
Before making this commemorative collection of silver the stamp raised patterns were hand-molded at the Moscow Mint, thus, the stamps gained a three-dimensional shape. All stamps are made in actual size. The collection-making process took three years and involved a great number of scientists, experts, technologists, engineers, designers, sculptors and artists.” - Vladimir Prussians told RIA" Dagestan ".
As to the spokesperson, silver stamps have immediately become rare antiques: "True connoisseurs of historical values and people with nice artistic sense will appreciate the beauty and refinement of precious stamps. Unique aesthetic solution allows silver stamps to exist forever and to be highly artistic works of the XXI Century Arts, which have no analogues in the world.
The number of stamps - 40 and is not accidental. In Islam, as in other religions, the number 40 is sacred and symbolizes change, reconciliation and a return to the principles."
The idea of creating a stamp collection "Mecca in Silver" appeared back in 2006 as a continuation and development of projects "Gold and Silver Korans".
