In 2006, the Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts named after P. Gamzatova implemented memorial exhibition project "Artist and teacher", dedicated to D. Kapanitsyn’s work and social activities. Thus, the museum celebrated the 110th anniversary of the talented painter, unselfish soul of the person, the undeservedly forgotten by the current generation of Dagestan artistic community and the public. This project, according to Dagirova, marked the beginning of study and promotion of the artist’s creative heritage ten years ago.
