Makhachkala, December 10, 2015. The Days of Dagestan Culture dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of Derbent will be held solemnly in Paris on December 14-17, the press – service of Dagestan ministry of culture reports.
The activities are conducted in accordance with the Presidential Decree №1559 dated November 21, 2012, the Order of the Government of the country №431-p of 23 March 2013, the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan №584 dated November 14, 2013, the Minutes of the meeting of the organizing committee №1 3 February 2015 under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin.
Derbent as the oldest city in the Russian Federation is a unique monument of history, culture, architecture and archeology included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites and the material heritage of Russia.
It should be noted that the Days of Dagestan Culture would become a significant and positive event in the cultural life of Paris and a great event of UNESCO. This event is very important for Russia and Dagestan as it contributes to the expansion of cultural cooperation, strengthening the influence of Russia as a world power.
Dagestan culture exposition is expected to become a key event. As to the spokesman, Parisians can see traditional arts and crafts of Dagestan such as carved wood sculptures, Untsukul woodworks, carved stone pieces, carpets, embroidery, ceramics, copper-engraved products, traditional costumes of the peoples of Dagestan, jewelry and works of art, as well as a concert of Dagestan pop artists and creative groups.
Dagestan ethno cultural concert and reception hosted by Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov will take place within the festivities.
Besides, an agreement on cooperation in the humanitarian sphere (in the aspect of carrying out the international creative projects) will be signed between UNESCO and the Republic of Dagestan
The Days of Dagestan Culture are organized by the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to UNESCO, the Ministry of North Caucasus Affairs, the Ministries of Culture of Russia and Dagestan.
