Dagestan has become one of the leading regions in number of sites of tourist interest selected under the "Land for Tourism" federal target project. The republic has identified 85 potential land plots for the development of tourism infrastructure. The project aims to identify unused land and transform it into a source of tourist revenue.
Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin pointed out the dynamic growth of tourism in Russia and the significance of developing tourist destinations. Since the launch of the project in July 2021, a total of 1,174 plots with a combined area of 19,500 hectares were identified for potential development. 929 new tourist attractions have been discovered.
As to Arsen Pirmagomedov, the head of Dagestan branch of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr), extensive efforts have been undertaken to delineate land parcels. These lands are now ripe for the development of tourist infrastructure projects. Among the projects slated for construction are the Caspian Coast Cluster, the all-Russian children's Centre "Dagestan" and the “Kayakent” resort.
