Investment initiatives in Dagestan are expected to offset up to 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity shortfall in the region, Manvel Mazhonts, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the republic says. These initiatives involve the construction of renewable energy facilities:
- A 300 megawatt (MW) wind farm in Novolak.
- A 60 MW solar power plant in Nogai.
- A 100 MW solar facility in Derbent.
By the end of 2025, these projects are expected to contribute to a reduction in the electricity deficit by 1.5 trillion kilowatt-hours in Dagestan. In 2024, the region's total electricity production exceeded 5 trillion kilowatt-hours, while consumption amounted to 9 trillion kilowatt-hours. Future plans involve further expansion of generating capacity.
