Makhachkala, February 26, 2014. Tuesday, February 25, Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov met with medal winners of the 2013 World Wrestling Championships and the Golden Grand Prix International wrestling tournament  Ivan Yarygin-2014" and their coaches, the press service and information board of Daghestani Head and Government’s Administration reports.

The event also brought together the Prime Minister Abdussamad Gamidov, the first Deputy Prime minister Anatoly Karibov, and the minister of physical culture and sports Magomed Magomedov.

Opening the meeting, Ramazan Abdulatipov noted that Daghestan has always had outstanding wrestlers and athletes. "For us, freestyle wrestling is not even a sport, but a culture, our tradition."
He also pointed out the problem of shortage of professional schools to train wrestlers in Daghestan. "In fact, there are only two wrestling schools in Daghestan - the Shamil Umakhanov School, Khassavyurt, and the Gamid Gamidov School, Makhachkala. There used to be very strong regional schools providing high-rank athletes surpassing even town children. Like any other sport, modern wrestling has its developments and achievements, but in the end, it all depends on the person, his spirit."

At the meeting, Ramazan Abdulatipov announced his intention to award the Order for the Service to Daghestan to Samuel Eto’O, FC "Anji" ex-player now representing "Chelsea". The reason for awarding was the footballer’s saying that he was the first Daghestani in the history to score a hat-trick in the England’s Premier League after "Chelsea" won "Manchester United".  At the end of the meeting, Ramazan Abdulatipov gave his name watches to freestyle wrestling world champion Bekkhan Goygereev and his coach Mairbek Yusupov. All the athletes also got their monetary awards.
