Dagestan becomes leader in Russia in number of self-employed

According to the Federal Tax Service, as of the end of the first quarter of 2024, approximately 10 million people in Russia are self-employed. Dagestan has emerged as the leading region with regard to the number of self-employed, with 8.4 thousand per 100 thousand residents.
As of June 10, 2024, the Republic of Dagestan had 345,124 registered self-employed individuals, according to data from the republican Agency for entrepreneurship and investments. The top three regions also include Kabardino-Balkaria and Krasnodar Krai, with 7.99 and 7.97 self-employed persons per 100 citizens, respectively.
