The incidence of community-acquired pneumonia in Dagestan is on the rise, as indicated by the weekly monitoring data provided by the Rospotrebnadzor department across the republic (the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare). In the first week of 2025, there were 419 reported cases of community-acquired pneumonia, a 32% increase compared to the previous week when 285 cases were recorded.
Conversely, the prevalence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVIs) has shown a decline. Last week saw 2,006 cases of ARVI, representing a 12% decrease from the previous week's count of 2,290.
The virological laboratory of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center of Rospotrebnadzor conducted tests on 94 individuals, revealing a single case of influenza A subtype H1N1 (SW), as well as non-influenza viruses, including three cases of parainfluenza, seven cases of rhinovirus, fifteen cases of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), three cases of adenovirus, four cases of bocavirus, and one case of metapneumovirus.
Moreover, sixty-eight cases of influenza have been confirmed in laboratories, including forty-three cases of influenza A(H1N1), twenty-one cases of untyped influenza A, and four cases of influenza B. Since the onset of the epidemiological season, sixteen kindergartens and four schools have been quarantined due to outbreaks of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza.
