Makhachkala, April 3, 2015. Turkey’s Seljuk University and Dagestani universities are expanding cooperation, a source in Dagestan Mission at the Russian Trade Mission in Turkey told RIA Dagestan.
Head of Dagestan Mission Tavlu Kazakbiev met with Rector of Seljuk University Prof. Dr. Hakki Gekbel earlier in the week. He noted that Dagestan and Turkey enjoy friendly and prospective relations. "Turkish investors support large-scale projects that are being implemented in Dagestan. We would like to strengthen our relationship in education, too. Now it’s the time of science, and we need to raise the level of our universities to keep up with the times," the official stressed.
Prof. Gekbel in turn said he was thankful for Dagestan delegation’s visit and underscored that Seljuk University was among the best 500 universities in the world in three areas of study. "We attach great importance to adherence to historical relations, vitalizing the culture we share, and strengthening partnership with countries of Central Asia and Turkic states," the rector said.
The two sides also discussed preliminary issues of enhancing cooperation between Seljuk University and Dagestani universities. They agreed arrange a meeting for representatives of the universities within days, expecting them to launch collaboration on exchange of students and teachers, teachers’ training, joint research projects, and sharing experience in administration management.
