Milana Dadasheva wins bronze of European Championship in wrestling

Makhachkala, February 14, 2020. Dagestan athlete Milana Dadasheva won the bronze medal of the European Women's Wrestling Championship in Rome. Dadasheva represented the Russian national team in the lightest weight category - up to 50 kg.
In the first duel, she defeated the Italian Emanuelo Liuti, in the second she convincingly coped with the Polish Anna Lukasyak - 10: 1. These victories allowed Milana to reach the semifinals, where in a bitter struggle she lost to Ukrainian Oksana Livach - 8: 9.

The defeat left the Dagestani athlete a chance for a bronze medal and she took advantage of it, beating Evin Demirkhan fr om Turkey - 10: 4. For Dadasheva, this is the second award won at the European Championships. Two years ago, at “home” continental championship in Kaspiysk she also won bronze, sharing third place with Demirkhan.

Another "Dagestani" - Inna Trazhukova also claims to be a medal. At domestic competitions, a native of the Ulyanovsk region also represents Dagestan, wh ere he has been training for some time. On Friday, in the finals in the weight category up to 62 kg Trazhukova will meet with the representative of Ukraine Yulia Tkach.

On the eve of the European Championships in the capital of Italy, the competition of wrestlers of the classical style came to the end. The Russian “Greco-Romans” won the team event. Still for the first time in 27 years the team was left without the highest standard awards. The team members won three silver and two bronze medals. At the last championship there were five gold medals, one silver and three bronzes.

On Friday, February 14, in Rome the duels for women’s medals were held in the remaining five weight categories. In the morning the competitions among men in the weight categories up to 57, 65, 70, 79 and 97 kg. started. Among them are three Dagestan wrestlers included into in the Russian combined team. Kurban Shiraev (65 kg) met with Frenchman Yezza, Magomed Ramazanov (79 kg) met Turk Demirchin and Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulayev (97 kg) acted in the qualification stage as well as his fellow countryman Magomedgadzhi Nurov, who stands for Northern Macedonia.
