Makhachkala, December 1, 2019. Khabib Nurmagomedov will defend his UFC lightweight title against the former interim champion in the division, Tony Ferguson. The contest will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 19.
The bout has become official, when Ferguson signed the contract on Friday in Las Vegas. The current champion, Nurmagomedov, signed his contract earlier this week. Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have been previously booked four times, from 2015 to 2018. Each time the bout was cancelled due to weight cut issues and injuries to both competitors.
Undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0) is a current UFC lightweight champion. In his previous outing in September he successfully defended his title for the second time, scoring the win by submission in the third round against Dustin Poirier.
