MOSCOW, April 17 – RIA Dagestan. Alexander Kurenkov, head of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations, chaired a meeting on flood mitigation in Dagestan and Chechnya. It was announced that damage assessment commissions have been reinforced and response forces expanded by deploying units from other regions. Kurenkov plans a new working visit to flood-affected territories to monitor progress and evaluate assistance measures.
Dagestan Head Sergey Melikov, Chechen Government Chairman Magomed Daudov, and EMERCOM Deputy Heads Alexey Kostrubitsky and Viktor Yatsutsenko provided updates on the situation. As reported, financial aid is already reaching affected residents. Efforts will concentrate on repairing homes, transport networks, essential social facilities and utilities.
A full recovery plan for these sectors will be approved at the next government commission meeting.
