Makhachkala, October 18, 2019. According to statistics by the free international tourist meta-search momondo.ru (service presented in 30 countries), Dagestan entered the top five regions represented on the “Wine Map of Russia”. This was reported to the news agency by the service manager.
The source notes that in modern Russia, winemaking has its own traditions, and recently it has become on a par with wine producing countries such as France, Portugal and Greece. The five “wine” regions of the Russian Federation include the Krasnodar Territory, Rostov Region, Dagestan, Volgograd Region and Primorsky Territory.
Dagestan winemaking is usually associated with Derbent, which produces wine from grape varieties such as Riesling, Rkatsiteli and Aligoté. Recall, the Italian winemaker Luca Zavarise has been invited to work in Derbent. The symbiosis of Russia and Italy resulted in a wine with a bright taste.
