Dagestan authorities intend to increase the capacity of the grain terminal by three times due to the reconstruction of JSC "Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port". Earlier, Dagestani Minister of Transport and Roads Dzhambulat Salavov shared plans to increase capacity from the current 500,000 tons to 1.5 million tons.

"Basically, export grain comes to us from the neighboring regions of the Northern Caucasus. To increase grain transshipment, preparations are currently underway to start construction of a new access road to the commercial sea port" - the minister reports, specifying that the new road will make it possible to relieve the road network of Makhachkala city and speed up grain delivery for further transportation.

The ministry also added that the seaport, apart from the grain terminal, also includes complexes for transshipment of dry cargo, oil products, railroad and ferry terminals.
