Makhachkala Sea Trading Port has tested the logistics chain for container transport from India, the regional Prime Minister Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov says. The top official believes that fertilizers, timber and agricultural products are promising areas for export.  Abdulmuslimov also expressed confidence that cooperation with Iran could benefit Dagestan in the development of seaborne trade.

“The port of Makhachkala currently cooperates with Iranian ports such as Astara, Anzali, Nowshahr and Amirabad and estimates suggest that the potential for trade turnover between Russia and Iran has so far been realized by 10-15%” – Abdulmuslimov said.
