Dagestan winegrowers contribute more than RUB 7.7 billion in taxes to local budget

According to Malik Vagabov, the first deputy chairman of the Committee for viticulture and alcohol regulation of the Republic of Dagestan, grape growing and wine-making constitute a crucial sector for the economy of the region.

Out of the total harvest of 301,500 tons of grapes, 234,000 tons were processed, which represents an increase of 16%, or 38,000 tons, compared to the previous year. Vagabov further reported a remarkable 19% rise in the production of alcoholic beverages by the local wineries.

These developments have significantly contributed to the regional budget, generating substantial tax revenues amounting to RUB 7.7 billion and excise duty payments exceeding RUB 3 billion from the sector.
