RusQuality plans to issue certificates confirming compliance with halal standards to hotels and restaurants in 2024. According to travel industry experts, foreign Muslims are mainly interested in traveling to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan and Dagestan.

Muslim-friendly has been successfully implemented in 30 countries around the world for many years, says Maxim Protasov, the head of RusQuality. For example, in order to maintain this status, hotels must provide rooms with a Koran on request, a prayer rug, and other religious symbols. Additionally, the menu and minibar should not contain alcoholic beverages.

The Russian System of Quality (RusQuality) is an autonomous non-commercial organization established on April 30, 2015 by order of the Russia’s Government. RusQuality conducts independent tests of FMCG products and services purchased in stores, conducts certification process and awards the best domestic products or services The Russian State Seal of Quality. The certification procedure is free for manufacturers and retailers.
