Nikolay Subbotin, the airport director, has announced plans to expand international terminal, noting that the facility currently operates at its maximum capacity and is unable to cope with the increasing number of passengers. The general director of Makhachkala Airport further stated that a major renovation of the domestic terminal is also being planned.

In his statement, Subbotin expressed confidence that the upward trend in passenger traffic would continue, and the management is committed to expanding and developing the airport. The top manager noted that passenger traffic was projected to increase by 5% in 2025, amounting to 3 million passengers compared to 2024.
