As to Jamal Aliyev, Director General of Makhachkala Port, the sea harbor may acquire two large dry-cargo vessels. The port currently has three vessels in its fleet: two with a capacity of three thousand tons each and one with a capacity of five thousand tons. The port has already applied for leasing-to-ownership for two of the largest Caspian Sea dry cargo ships of the RSD59 project with a capacity up to six thousand tons.
Aliyev stated that the company joined the queue for these vessels, anticipating their construction and delivery, which are estimated to cost an average of one and a half billion rubles each. Besides, the top manager cited the federal Ministry of Transport, stating that the average age of Russia's cargo fleet exceeds 35 years, indicating a need for renewal.
