The cultivation of trout in Dagestan has increased by 1.7 times in the last year, leading to a larger trout population. Fish farmers in the region have grown 510 tons of trout during the first half of this year, compared to 326 tons in the same period of 2022. This represents an increase of 73.5% over the previous year.
According to the republican Fisheries Committee, approximately 20 fish farms are currently operating in the region. The fish farmers plan to produce 600 tons of trout in 2024. This is a 45% increase compared to last year's production. The growth is expected to be achieved through increased stocking of trout in farms located in the Shamilsky, Tsumadinsky, and Tlyaratinsky municipal districts.
