Dagestan and Uzbekistan to implement joint cooperation and import substitution projects - Abdulmuslimov

The meeting of the Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan took place on May 27, chaired by the leaders of both countries - Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Dagestan was represented by the chairman of the regional government, Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov. More than 20 Russian governors, heads of federal ministries and agencies attended the event on the Russian side. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen practical cooperation between the regions of the two countries and business circles.
Uzbekistan has adopted plans to increase its trade turnover through the implementation of cooperation projects and the promotion of import substitution, with the active participation of all regions. This was highlighted by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at a meeting of the Council of Regions between Russia and Uzbekistan, held in Tashkent.
Currently, more than 200 joint projects with a total value of four billion US dollars are being implemented at the regional level. Additionally, the regions have prepared a new package of agreements with a value of five billion US dollars. The President of Uzbekistan outlined the following priorities for interregional cooperation:
1. Further increase in mutual trade: Over the past seven years, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia has increased 2.5-fold. Most significantly, the structure of trade is changing qualitatively towards products with higher added value.
2. Action plans to increase trade through cooperation projects: We have adopted plans to increase trade volume through cooperation projects and import substitution, with active participation from the regions.
3. Establishment of a trade mission: In the near future, we intend to establish a full-scale trade mission for Uzbekistan in Russia to support these projects.
On the previous day, during a meeting the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan, Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov agreed to establish a joint Russian-Uzbek company, ASADBEK GLASS FIBER LLC, for the production of textile glass fiber. The company will operate in the territory of Uzbekistan and will be established jointly with the Caspian Glass Fiber Plant LLC, a company based in the Republic of Dagestan. According to Abdulmuslimov, the purpose of setting up the company is to implement joint projects aimed at substitution of imported products.
