The Republic of Dagestan continues to implement a large-scale project to create a modern system of municipal solid waste management. According to the press service of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the construction of solid waste management facilities in the region is now 63% complete.

The project includes the construction of three waste sorting complexes in Derbent, Karabudakhkent and Khasavyurtovsky municipal districts and a landfill in Kumtorkalinsky district. The total capacity of these facilities will make 950,000 tons per year for the treatment plants and 570,000 tons for the landfill. The construction will be funded by grants from the federal budget, with a total of RUB 8.4 billion allocated for the project implementation in Dagestan in 2022-2024.
