Makhachkala, February 4, 2016. On February 4, the Head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov has participated in the official opening ceremony of Kasumkent-Kurakh motorway. Addressing the participants of the solemn meeting Dagestani leader noted that Dagestan road system consisted of more than 23 thousand kilometers of motorways, out which more than 5000 km are the roads of federal significance, 15000 km are owned by the republic and 3000 km are the municipal roads.
"We are taking active steps to maintain the transport network of the republic. Over the past three years, we did a great job to repair, renovate and construct new roads in the republic. We recently opened a section of road from the airport to the town of Kaspiisk. In fact, we reconstructed the road from Makhachkala to Derbent and renovated the tunnel in the city of Derbent.
The republican authorities have great plans. Five municipal districts still have no paved roads; in three of them, the situation has changed for the better in the current year. The roads with asphalt coating to the regional centers should be constructed by the end of 2018 in all districts of Dagestan.
The official part of the event ended with a presentation of state awards to the distinguished road builders. After installation of the symbolic sign "Open road" a column of road-construction vehicles drove along the new roadway.
