Sergey Melikov with Ramazan Abdulatipov visit Makhachkala Commercial Seaport

Makhachkala, April 13, 2015. Today April 10, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District Sergey Melikov together with the Head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov visited Makhachkala Commercial Seaport to review the work of the oldest enterprises of the republic.
Makhachkala Commercial Seaport - is not only the one Russian ice-free port on the Caspian Sea, but also the main transport hub of the country on the Caspian highway for the transportation of crude oil and oil products. This is the constituent part of the international transport corridor "North-South".
The Director-General of the enterprise Ahmed Gajiyev told the guests that in recent years the turnover of the enterprise totaled 5-6 million tons thus displaying a stable financial position.
"The new management team has worked hard to improve the financial situation of the port and the restoration of its good reputation, but much remains to be done to improve the efficiency of the enterprise. Now we are with the Ministry of Transport to develop special programs for further development of the port"- Dagestan Head said.
For the present time, dredging project is the priority one in order to implement the strategic plans for the development and reconstruction of the sea port of Makhachkala.
The Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District Sergey Melikov noted the unique geopolitical position of Makhachkala port. In his view, the attraction of strategic investors to the privatized assets for their further development must be taken as a prerogative when considering the question of company privatization. Melikov warned against the sale of objects at any cost.
