Wine production increases by 36% in Dagestan in first half of 2024

In the first half of 2024, Dagestan winemakers produced 737.2 thousand decalitres of wine, which is a 36.2% increase compared to the same period last year, the Republican Committee for Viticulture and Alcohol Regulation reports.
The Committee official specified that the volume of champagne production for the period increased significantly - by 81.7%. In total for six months in Dagestan produced 597.7 thousand dal of this product. This year Dagestani enterprises plan to produce 1.545 million dal of wine and 1.47 million dal of champagne.
Earlier, Emil Omarov, the director general of Derbent Wine Company, announced his intention to invest 200 million rubles in the promotion of enotourism in the next 5 years. The company has been developing wine tourism since 2011. According to the press service of the company, now the local plant has 4 main shops: a shop for grape processing, a shop for production and storage of products, and the shops of champanization and bottling of wines.
In the future, the company plans to create a dedicated space for exhibiting a collection of works by young Dagestani artists. For several years, "Derbent Wine Company" has been collaborating with the Art Residence in Derbent by providing scholarships to young sculptors and artists.
It should also be noted that the company is currently working on developing the winery's infrastructure. This includes creating a platform for wine tastings and dinners in the vineyard, renovating the shop at the winery, and planning a project to construct guest houses near the vineyards.
