Blind girl from Dagestan wins competition to recite Holy Quran

Samira Kasumova, a blind girl from the village of Nizhneye Kazanishche, has won the republican contest on reciting the Holy Quran and the basics of Islam held in the village of Dylym, Kazbekovski municipal district.

Despite her congenital blindness, Samira has mastered the Qur’an by heart. The girl’s dream has finally come true today. The head of Buynakski municipal district Ullubiy Khanmurzayev, visited her at home and presented with the long-awaited gift of headphones for listening to lectures.

The district head expressed his admiration for Samira’s unwavering determination to excel in both her religious studies and secular subjects such as Russian language and literature. Her ambition is to become a teacher. Her parents are immensely proud of daughter's achievements.
