North Caucasian Federal District is Russia's leader in population growth

According to Rosstat, the population growth in the North Caucasian Federal District over the past 10 years amounted to 7.3%. The macro region has 10.171 million residents: 3.182 million in Dagestan, 2.907 million in Stavropol Territory, 1.510 million in Chechnya. They are followed by Kabardino-Balkaria (904,000), Northern Ossetia (687,000), Ingushetia (509,000) and Karachay-Cherkessia (469,000). According to the 2021 nationwide census, the district occupies the second last place in Russia in terms of population but it is the leader in terms of population growth over the decade.
