More than 100 experts from different regions of Russia together with Dagestani researchers will offer practical solutions for the development of key sectors of the regional economy. The satellite event of the IV Congress of Young Scientists, a key event of the Decade of Science and Technology, has kicked off in Makhachkala.

Representatives of Dagestan's sectoral departments participated in the work of expert groups in their areas of work. The satellite event was attended by a representative group of experts from different regions of Russia. For three days the experts will cooperate with scientists of the Republic of Dagestan on the declared scientific topics.

Representatives of 57 different organizations take part in the event: leading universities and research institutes, large enterprises, regional authorities such as St. Petersburg State University, Grozny State Oil Technical University named after Acad. M.D. Millionshchikov, All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after N.I. Vavilov, Federal Scientific Center of Agroecology, Integrated Land Reclamation and Protective Afforestation of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Chemical and Technological University named after D.I. Mendeleev. D.I. Mendeleyev Russian Chemical and Technological University, Russian State Hydrometeorological University, as well as leading universities and scientific organizations of Dagestan.

The first day of the experts' work is devoted to working out the proposed sectoral tasks in project groups. The event will also include field visits to sectoral sites to get familiarized with the infrastructure and available resources for solving problems in the region.

In particular, the experts will examine desertification hotspots, phytomelioration locations, artesian wells, forest nursery in Nogai district, Sulak Canyon, marine relief forms in Kumtorkala district, Dimitrov oil and gas condensate field, Berikeyskoye deposit of lithium-containing geothermal waters, and will also visit Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port, Federal Agrarian Research Center of the Republic of Dagestan, Dagestan Experimental Station and other objects.
