Volunteers from the Insan charitable foundation are actively involved in efforts to mitigate the consequences of an environmental disaster.
Following a tanker accident in the Kerch Strait, a significant amount of fuel oil was spilled, causing severe environmental damage along the Anapa coast. The extent of the spill extended over 50 kilometers, with traces of oil products also detected on the Crimean coast south of Kerch. To address the problem, tons of contaminated sand are being painstakingly removed from the affected beaches. Efforts are also underway to extract the oil-water mixture from the Black Sea using special sorbents. Six special rescue centers for birds affected by the oil spill are currently operating in the region.
In response to this emergency, the Insan Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign to help deal with the aftermath of this event. The funds raised so far will be used to organize activities of the environmental volunteer teams, including logistics, equipment and comprehensive information support.
Today, 38 members of the humanitarian organization "Insan" have arrived at the site of the disaster. The youngest member of the group is only 11 years old, while the oldest is 52. Yesterday, a second group of volunteers arrived in Anapa from Dagestan.
