Culiacan, Mexico, December 9, 2014. Dagestani Timur Aliyev with the Russian team won the FIFA world championship for disabled athletes held November 30 to December 8 in Culiacan, Mexico, the press service of Dagestan ministry of physical culture and sports told RIA "Dagestan".
The championship assembled 24 teams that were divided into six groups. At the group stage of the championship, the Russian team played with teams of Haiti, Germany, and Kenya. After placing first in the group, team Russia beat the Brazilians in the quarterfinals - 4: 0, then the Turkish team in the semifinals - 1: 0, and in the final game they showed a landslide victory over Angola - 3: 1.
A fullback with the national team, Timur Aliyev has become a five-time world champion. It’s the 7th title the Russian team has won at the world championships that is held every other year. It was the 14th championship in the history.
The Russian Football Union congratulated the Russian team on their championship and thanked the players for the spectacular play they showed in the football field.
