MAKHACHKALA, May 26 – RIA Dagestan. In late spring, fruit and vegetable traffic through customs posts on the Russian-Azerbaijani border has grown significantly, Dagestan Customs official says.
Berry imports stand out most: strawberry volumes reached 16,000 tons; 2.5 times higher than last year's figure for the same period. Tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, melons, berries and stone fruits are among the fresh products transported along this corridor, which continues to rank as one of the principal entry routes for fresh agricultural goods into Russia.
As to Badrutin Magomedov, President of Dagestan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the coordinated border work and clear agency cooperation keep perishable goods moving without interruption during seasonal demand peaks. The officer drew attention to the corridor's strategic contribution to regional food security, adding that the observed growth serves as confirmation of robust logistics linkages and points to strong prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation.
