In 2024 the grape harvest in Dagestan is expected to remain at the same level as in 2023. Derbent Sparkling Wine Factory (DZIV), one of the leading companies in the industry, plans to increase its processing and harvesting of grapes from its own vineyards.
According to Akhmed Akhmedov, the deputy Chairman of the Viticulture Committee of the Republic of Dagestan and Gaidar Shuaibov, the deputy Director General of DZIV LLC, the area of DZIV's vineyards exceeds 2,000 hectares. Harvesting is carried out both by combine harvesters, which process up to 5.5 hectares per day and by mechanized harvesting, which covers 68 hectares.
In 2024, DZIV plans to harvest approx. 28,000 tons of grapes, an increase of 4,000 tons compared to the last year. The expected yield per hectare is 125 centners. To achieve this, the company will use 65 tractors, 60 trailers, intercropping equipment and chasers for vineyard operations. From August to October, the winery operates in three shifts each day, producing 2 million deciliters of products annually.
The area under fruit-bearing vines in Dagestan amounts to 23,500 hectares. In 2023, the region harvested 282,800 tons of grapes. It is projected that the harvest in 2024 will be no less.
