According to the latest available data, as of November 1st, 2024, the total number of visitors to the republic exceeded 1.695 million, which is an increase of 4.9% compared to the previous year's figures. The national project "Tourism and hospitality" aims to increase the number of tourists in Russia to 140 million per year by 2030, ensuring economic growth through the multiplier effect of the tourism industry. Travelling in Russia will be comfortable, safe and interesting.

The national project has been implemented since 2019 and includes the Caspian Coast cluster, spanning Derbent, Karabudakhkent, Kayakent, and Magaramkent districts in Dagestan. Plans include the construction of 28 modern hotels with a total of 13,500 accommodation places, with 60% being three-star hotels and the remaining 40% being four- and five-star properties.
