The construction of a new railway terminal in the vicinity of borderline between Dagestan and Azerbaijan is set to commence shortly. The facility will significantly boost freight transportation along the North Caucasian railway sector.
According to Sergey Zadorin, head of the North Caucasian Railways (NCR), the company is currently finalizing the design phase for the construction of the new station known as Samur-2 near Dagestan-Azerbaijan border. Construction is anticipated to commence in the near future.
This transport hub is projected to incorporate customs and border control facilities, with an anticipated capacity to handle approximately 15 million tons of freight annually.
Besides, NCR is actively collaborating with Azerbaijan on railway infrastructure development projects. One such initiative involves expanding the track network along the route connecting Derbent and Samur, while plans are also underway to construct additional tracks branching off from Kizlyar.
