Makhachkala, December 17, 2014. Around 3,565 tons of aquatic biological resources are planned to be caught till the end the year in Dagestan, a source in the republican ministry of agriculture and food supply told RIA Dagestan.
The figure is 0.9% more than in that of 2013. A decrease is only observed in sprat yield due to a sharply reduced commercial sprat concentration and the decreased number of vessels engaged in fishing sprat.
"With regard to the farmed fish, the 2014 yield is over 1,552 tons, which is 29.6% more than last year," - the source said .
The ministry ascribes the better yield in commercial fish farming in the republic with provided government support, the ministry’s approved target program "Developing fisheries industry in Dagestan for 2014-2016", and a few other factors.
