Food and processing industry production increase in Dagestan

Makhachkala, March 16, 2015. Over the past year, there has been a rise in food and processing industry in Dagestan, a source in the republican ministry of agriculture and food supply reported RIA Dagestan. In 2014, Dagestani enterprises processed around 5,600 tons of meat and by-products (107.2% as compared with 2013) and 1,272 tons of sausages (109.5%).
The other figures are: 21,000 tons of dairy products (104.8%), 502.9 tons of butter (111.4%), 5,819 tons of cheese and cottage cheese (114.1%), 68.3 million cans of fruits and vegetables (117.5%), 208,800 tons of bread and bakery (100.4%), 17,000 tons of confectionery (110.3%), 123,750 litres of soft drinks (114,5%), and 107.8 million bottles of mineral water (101%).
Currently, there are over 100 food processing enterprises of different forms of ownership with 19,000 employees working there.
