A new roadway is being constructed in Dagestan, spanning a total distance of 33 kilometers. This highway will significantly enhance the capacity of the North–South International Transport Corridor (ITC).
The construction of the new highway in the southern region of Dagestan is scheduled to commence on December 6th. This project is included in the broader framework of the Russian Transport Development Program.
The projected length of the roadway in the region is estimated at 33 kilometers. Experts anticipate that the average daily vehicle traffic volume will rise to 30,000 cars by 2041. Notably, the road commences in Mamedkala, connecting to the main route of the R-217 Kavkaz highway at the exit of the village of Arbalinskoye, ensuring seamless connectivity within the transport network.
The motorway will circumvent Derbent and Dagestan settlements. One of the critical phases in the development of this project is the excavation of tunnels beneath Derbent fortifications (walls of the ancient citadel).
