Murad Kazhlayev, People's Artist of the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) and an outstanding composer, was a true cosmopolitan. Yet, he remained deeply rooted in his Dagestani identity. His homeland, Dagestan, resonated throughout his works, shaping their themes and musical language.

Dagestan will forever pay homage to its illustrious son, reminding future generations of the beauty of its musical heritage and the immeasurable spiritual wealth of an era in which Kazhlayev made his unique artistic contributions. On 12 December 2024, the State Orchestra of Folk Instruments of the Republic of Dagestan will perform a concert in honor of Kazhlayev in the Kumyk Theatre Hall. The concert is held as part of the Pushkin Map program.
