Renowned North Ossetian artist Karina Batsoeva recently debuted a solo ceramic exhibition in Dagestan, showcasing over 40 unique pieces. The exhibition, hosted at one of Dagestan Museum's pavilions, provided Batsoeva with an opportunity to explore a new format and delve deeper into her ceramic practice.
Batsoeva eloquently described clay as a "grateful material", emphasizing the intimate dialogue between artist and medium that results in the creation of something beyond mere objects. She sees her works as silent narratives, captured in their form and texture, reflecting her inner world and deep connection to her cultural heritage, particularly evident in pieces inspired by her homeland.
The exhibition featured a diverse range of ceramic creations, including masks, tableware, murals and experimental works specifically conceived for this event. Notably, Batsoeva created a unique ceramic tile carpet for the exhibition, highlighting her innovative approach and meticulous craftsmanship.
Batsoeva reported that the exhibition was met with enthusiastic engagement from visitors, who expressed keen interest in the subject matter, materials used and the sources of inspiration behind her compelling ceramic art.
