The growing congestion of road network in Makhachkala, driven by the increasing number of vehicles, necessitated the implementation of modern technological solutions. In response to this challenge, the deployment of an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) has been successfully completed in Dagestan, aimed at optimizing traffic flow in the republic's capital.

The ITS creates a unified information space for the entire city's road transport infrastructure. The system provides effective support for traffic management, road maintenance, crisis prevention and response, and enhances coordination with various enterprises and organizations in the Republic of Dagestan.

The implementation of the ITS pursues several key objectives:

• Enhancing road safety and minimizing the consequences of traffic accidents.
• Optimizing traffic flows to increase the capacity of the street-road network and reduce accident rates.
• Improving the overall efficiency of urban transport operations and its infrastructure.

In 2025, as part of the ITS implementation, significant work was carried out in terms of modernization and equipment:

• 14 traffic light installations modernized.
• 14 road controllers installed.
• 6 strategic and 5 tactical detectors deployed.
• 9 RPPs (Remote Processing Points) commissioned.
