On May 22, the Head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov met with director of Rosmorflot Andrey Tarasenko in Moscow. The officials discussed the establishment of a federal marine school in Dagestan based on one of the educational institutions in the republic. In the past, during the Soviet period, there was a marine college in Makhachkala.

Rosmorflot is a federal government agency that provides state services and manages state-owned assets in the fields of maritime (excluding marine terminals for integrated service of fishing vessels) and inland waterway transport, as well as in the area of transportation security.
