Makhachkala, July 8, 2014. Federation Council Vice-Speaker Ilyas Umakhanov took part in the meeting with Minister of North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov held the Federation Council on 7 July. Authorities met to discuss socio-economic development of the North Caucasus Federal District and Adygea, and the progress of federal programs.
Ilyas Umahanov spoke about the interaction between the Federation Council and the Ministry of North Caucasus Affairs, joint monitoring of law enforcement practice and implementation of state programs in NCFD regions, and execution of promising investment projects in tourism.
The vice-speaker noted that the North Caucasus is the most complicated Russian region. In finding solutions, they should take into account local specifics, in particular, limited regional and local budgets while forming state programs.
Lev Kuznetsov responded that currently, they were auditing revision and reformatting the "North Caucasus Resorts" corporation – the ski sector of the "Matlas" project may be revised, but they were still interested in developing the coastal area of the tourism cluster.
