Turkish police fire rubber bullets at women’s day rally participants

Hundreds of activists of the movement for the rights of women took to the streets in Istanbul, Turkey on the eve of the International Women's Day trying to attract public attention to the position of women in Turkish society, in particular to the employment problems.

According to RIA Novosti information agency, dozens of women with purple scarves symbolizing the movement for gender equality went to the streets of Istanbul. However, the city authorities, citing security concerns, not allowed participating in a rally.

For this reason, police dispersed the crowd using plastic bullets. According to the agency, at least one of the participants of the action was detained, several women got injures.
